When you do a Windows upgrade it will scan your computer to see what you have on your system. It may even warn you that some of your software is not compatible, and that you will have to delete it in order for the Windows upgrade to work. Having done everything it said during the install you may then find that your system will not start properly again.

When an install goes wrong the problem with the Windows upgrade it will be a mystery to the novice. And even if it does go OK you may find some of your most important pieces of software no longer worked.

This will leave more frustrated than ever. you loved the software as it was and I saw no reason to spend hundreds to upgrade something that already worked perfectly for me as it was.

Quite often you will need to hunt on the internet (if you still can) for drivers for your hardware , but depending on its age the drivers may not be available for the latest upgrade.

With the Vista the Vista upgrade now available think twice before dashing out to purchase a new operating system. Quite often it is perhaps better to just wait and see if you think you really need it right away. For the sake of my sanity, I might just wait. And if you do our advise would be to speak to your local computer repairer before attempting this yourself.
